About iFOREST:

iFOREST (International Forum for Environment, Sustainability & Technology) is an independent non- profit organisation that addresses critical environmental challenges, including climate change, clean energy development, pollution, and waste. Established in 2019 by leading environmental scientists and researchers, we collaborate with stakeholders at state and national levels, encompassing government, industry, civil society, and research institutions.

Project Overview: This project aims to develop a gender-responsive pathway for the just transition of India’s coal regions. It focuses on enhancing social protection and secure livelihood opportunities for women, while promoting their representation in decision-making processes. Through research and stakeholder engagement, it seeks to address gender inequalities in the energy transition.

Internship Role:

We are seeking 2 interns to assist in conducting FGDs across different coal mining locations in the Nagpur and Chandrapur districts. The FGDs will target women groups such as informal workers and SHG groups, and PRI members. Additionally, interviews of different stakeholders such as different CSOs working in coal mining regions and women skill training centres, if any.

Note: This is a socio-economic survey where the target group may not be well-versed in English /Hindi. Hence individuals who are proficient in Marathi are required.

Requirements:
• Selected students to undergo training (online) of 2 hours to debrief about the project, questionnaires, Do’s and dont’s, and output required
• Dates of the survey: 7 – 9th October 2024 (Tentative)
• Timings: 9 am – 6 pm
• Preference:
• Proficiency in Marathi
• Proficiency in surveying (Students of sociology, women studies, environment studies are preferred)

Incentives:
• ₹2,000 per day (variable, based on the quality of surveys produced)- includes commute, food and miscellaneous expenses. Field travels will be arranged by iFOREST.
• Certificate of completion
