Job Description
Alstom is seeking a Field Engineer for Sustainable Mobility in Washington, DC. The role involves providing technical support for Alstom's products, diagnosing equipment failures, and collaborating with teams to enhance customer satisfaction and product performance. Candidates should possess mechanical or electrical aptitude, effective communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This is a full-time position that requires on-site presence.
Job Summary:
As a Field Engineer at Alstom, you will play a crucial role in supporting our diverse customers across the globe. Our extensive portfolio of high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, as well as turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling, and digital mobility solutions requires engineers who can lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide.
The ideal candidate must have an appetite to learn, either mechanical or electrical aptitude, a motivation to discover root cause on their own, and a collaborative attitude to work amongst a strong team. Effective communication is also key, including being able to independently escalate issues to the appropriate stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide technical support for all technical activities on Alstom products during PI period, Commissioning, Warranty, and Validation & Certification phases
• Diagnose causes of malfunction/failure of operational equipment and recommend preventative and corrective actions
• Develop troubleshooting methodologies
• Offer technical guidance and support technicians in troubleshooting and repairs
• Identify technical documentation deficiencies and provide feedback
• Advise PI management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product enhancements
• Drive Kx (8D) issues with Quality and internal & external Suppliers in support of PrPIM
• Ensure completeness and quality of input to Failure Management data base for RAMS exploitation
• Drive Reliability Growth through failure/event investigation and reliability forecast implementation (with RAMS support)
• Drive and support containment to avoid reoccurrence of failures
• Maintain Alstom product configuration control and relevant documentation management
• Support technical reviews with internal and external Suppliers, partners, customers, authorities
• Facilitate information flow within the PI Customer Site, PI functions, and project teams. Provide status and transparency on PI activities, key technical issues, to PrPIM.
• Apply EHS requirements on site with the support of EHS team representatives
• Drive technical Return of Experience/reporting/feedback as support of PrPIM
• Support Obsolescence Management (if applicable)
• Support preparation and implementation of Field Modifications (FM)
• Traction/propulsion system knowledge
