Farm Ambassador & Animal Steward

Fox Point Farms in Encinitas, CA is hiring a part-time Farm Ambassador & Animal Steward. This role involves caring for farm animals, facilitating events, and engaging with the community. Fox Point Farms is an agrihood community in Encinitas, California. Using regenerative farming practices, we operate a three-acre vegetable production farm on land once stewarded by the Kumeyaay people. As part of the micro-ecosystem of Fox Point Farms businesses, we grow in collaboration with an onsite brewery, coffee roastery, market and cafe, farm-to-table restaurant, apothecary, wellness studio, and more. As a farm, we are uniquely situated in an urban area, bordering on a housing community, and open to the public seven days a week. We are a small but mighty team dedicated to regenerating soil that was covered by concrete for decades, and connecting more people with local, nutrient-dense food. We care deeply about our team and want every farm member to feel supported, motivated, and fulfilled in their work.

Our farm team believes that farming is a hands-on approach to fostering climate resilience while nourishing our bodies and deepening our connection to our food source.

This unique position is a bridge between our working production farm and the public / wider community. As an urban farm and an agrihood, we have a desire and responsibility to share our land, growing practices, produce, and animals with our community through events and education. We are looking for someone enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and passionate about regenerative farming – and especially caring for our farm animals. Our farmily includes: one mini jersey cow, two alpacas, three goats, two pigs, 31 chickens, and two barn cats. Farm Ambassador responsibilities include: set-up and clean-up for events, feeding and caring for our farm animals, welcoming and scheduling guests for tours, selling tickets, and giving animal and tractor farm tours.

The Animal Steward & Farm Ambassador will report to our Farm Manager. This is a part-time, weekend position, 2-3 days (16-24 hours) per week, typically from 9am-5pm (depending on the season). This position is specifically to care for our animals and facilitate farm events on the weekends. Therefore, Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday availability is required. Occasional weekday or evening shifts may be required to support additional events or animal care. There may be an opportunity to grow within the farm and join our weekly production farm crew, in the future. There is also the possibility of working in other areas of Fox Point Farms, including Harvest Market & Cafe, the Brewery, Huerta, Hatch Gatherings, and Haven.
