Job Description

Xcel Energy is seeking a Facility Rating Engineer in Eau Claire, WI, to apply engineering principles in developing solutions for facility ratings. Position Summary

Under general direction, demonstrates complete understanding & wide application of engineering technical principle, theories, & concepts in the field. Independently determines & develops approaches to solutions. Receives technical guidance on complex problems; completed work reviewed for adequacy in meeting objectives. May lead small-medium non-critical projects or critical projects under direction of higher level engineer/supervisor. May provide work direction to other professionals &/or staff. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects. Frequent inter-organizational & outside customer contact. Demonstrates a broad knowledge & proficiency of precedents in the specialty area, a good knowledge of related specialties, & general knowledge of other related disciplines.

Essential Responsibilities
• Provide feedback, clarifications, technical direction to project teams to ensure proper facility ratings models and processes are completed timely to meet compliance requirements
• Understand the tools and systems that support the ratings process
• Create process documentation around the ratings process and suggest process improvements
• Be a subject matter advisor as it relates to facility ratings for all of the Transmission Business Unit including providing education or presentations as needed
• Ensure that ratings are properly communicated to impacted parties both inside and outside the company
• Support creation and updating of the Facility Rating Methodology
• Support ongoing efforts to stay current with new regulations such as Ambient Adjusted Ratings
• Suggest improvements to the facility rating methodology
• Update and maintain Xcel’s Bulk Electric System (BES) lists

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from ABET accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency). 2+year's relevant engineering experience. Demonstrated broad knowledge & proficiency in specialty area, knowledge of related specialties, & general knowledge of other related disciplines. Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills & core competencies for this engineering level established & documented by the organization. EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering) strongly preferred
• Preferred requirements
• Familiarity with FERC/NERC and other regulations
• Familiarity with IEEE standards
• Proficient in both substation and transmission line ratings including equipment ratings

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $79,800.00 to $103,666.00 per year
