JOB SUMMARY:

The Extension Wildlife Damage Associate is a non-tenure-track Extension position specializing in human-wildlife conflicts and wildlife damage management.

The Extension Wildlife Damage Associate will report to the Extension Wildlife Damage Specialist and assist with developing and implementing a problematic wildlife program in South Carolina to help reduce damage caused by wild hogs, white-tailed deer, and other wildlife.

JOB DUTIES:

75% - Essential - Assist the Extension Wildlife Damage Specialist with developing and implementing a problematic wildlife program in South Carolina to help reduce damage caused by wild hogs, white-tailed deer, and other wildlife.

20% - Essential - Provide support and training for Extension county programs and Extension Agents. Work closely with faculty in the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences. Assist the Extension Wildlife Damage Specialist in pursuing grants and other opportunities to partner with federal and non-government organizations to elevate the Problematic Wildlife Program.

5% - Essential - Collaborate with state agriculture and natural resource agencies (South Carolina Department of Agriculture, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources), federal agencies (USDA Wildlife Services), universities, and non-government partner organizations (South Carolina Farm Bureau) to develop and implement a problematic wildlife program in South Carolina to help reduce damage caused by wild hogs, white-tailed deer, and other wildlife.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - 1st Master's Degree - Wildlife damage management, human-wildlife conflicts, wildlife conservation, natural resources or a similar discipline.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - 1st Doctoral / Professional Degree - Wildlife damage management, human-wildlife conflicts, wildlife conservation, natural resources or a similar discipline.
Work Experience - 3+ years working in Extension in the area of wildlife damage management at a land-grant university.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hours: 37.5

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Anticipated Salary Range: $53,300 - $65,000

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
