About the position

The University of Florida (UF) is seeking an Extension Agent I - III for Sustainable Agriculture and Small Farms, located in Walton County, Nebraska. This position is part of the Florida Cooperative Extension Service, which is a collaborative effort between state, federal, and county governments aimed at providing high-quality, research-based education to the community. The Extension Agent will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that address the diverse needs of the county's population, particularly in the areas of agricultural profitability and land management practices. The Extension Agent will be responsible for creating innovative educational programs that support landowners, growers, and producers in Walton County. This includes developing programs based on Best Management Practices (BMP) that promote efficiency, sustainability, and environmentally sound principles. The agent will conduct needs-based assessments to identify programmatic priorities and will work closely with an advisory committee to ensure that the programs effectively reach the intended audience. In addition to program development, the Extension Agent will be tasked with creating various educational materials, including presentations, posters, and publications that are accessible to the general public. Collaboration with peers in the Northwest District Program Implementation Teams is essential for planning and delivering both virtual and face-to-face educational programs. The agent will also be responsible for promoting these programs through various media outlets to raise awareness of the Extension's mission and expertise in horticulture. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, and may involve overnight travel. The Extension Agent will work under the supervision of the County Extension Director and District Extension Director, contributing to the overall success of the county and district Extension programs.

Responsibilities

Requirements
• A bachelor's degree in agriculture, agronomy, animal sciences, or plant sciences.

• Strong oral and written interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and balance diverse responsibilities.

• A commitment to customer service and Extension for All guidelines.

• Ability to use computers, web delivery, and social media in work.

• Possession or ability to obtain a Florida driver's license.

• Flexibility with working hours, including evenings, weekends, and overnight travel.

• A master's degree in a relevant field.
