The Opportunity
We’re looking for highly experienced Commissioning Engineers to join our Assets Engineering Secondary Systems team in ElectraNet. Based full time in Adelaide, South Australia, you will co-ordinate, control and supervise the testing and commissioning of new and refurbished assets while conducting audits of all asset’s routine maintenance undertaken by ElectraNet’s maintenance service provider.
This is a pivotal role within the organisation that provides independent validation to ensure that the plant and systems are tested appropriately prior to energisation and is part of ElectraNet’s non-delegable responsibility.
In this role you will also be tasked with:
• Planning and coordinating corrective fieldwork, ensuring commissioning and maintenance activities are carried out in safe manner that complies to relevant legislation and health and safety policies.
• Prepare, review and approve the Inspection and Test Plans and secondary isolations for in-service works.
• Undertaking Asset Engineering maintenance audits and document findings.
• Providing technical support during routine and breakdown maintenance.
• Facilitating bench testing of new equipment and unique configurations in compliance to internal new equipment policies and procedures.
About You
Here’s what we’re looking for in our new team member:
• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering with approximately 5 to 8 years' experience in secondary systems and commissioning.
• Sound knowledge of operating HV and secondary test equipment.
• Knowledge and skills across control system programming, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance (programable logic controllers, remote terminal units, HMI’s, distributed control systems, SCADA/telemetry and networking protocols).
• Familiar with power system control, primary assets, telecommunication and substation infrastructure.
• Understanding and knowledge of protection and control system LANs for substation communication such as the IEC 61850 substation network communication standards.
• Experience in field testing, commissioning and corrective maintenance of control systems, including complex control systems on large rotating plants and instrumentation.
• Able to operate vendor-specific software tools for modern substation automation and protection equipment.
• Good understanding of legislated industry requirements (Work Health and Safety regulations, National Electricity Rules, ESCOSA, OTR, AEMO Guidelines).
• Flexible approach to working hours and after-hours commitments where required.
• Ability to work autonomously in the field and supervise others. Proficient analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills
• A strong commitment to safety and problem-solving.
• Proven ability to work with internal and external stakeholders with good communication skills.
