About the position
The EV Technician position at OWL Services involves diagnosing and repairing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, which includes hardware replacement, upgrades, and maintenance of electrical systems for various types of EV charging equipment. The technician will also be responsible for servicing and installing electronic equipment, including security systems and Point of Sale (POS) devices. This role is critical in ensuring the functionality and safety of EV charging stations, which are essential for supporting the growing demand for electric vehicles. The technician will work in a dynamic environment, often requiring travel to different geographical areas to support new installations and upgrades. Safety, documentation, and reporting are key components of this role, as the technician must adhere to strict safety protocols while performing their duties. In this position, the technician will troubleshoot various issues and perform repairs in a timely manner. They will conduct Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) testing, manage testing requirements such as torque and thermal imagery, and locate system performance issues. Effective communication with colleagues and customers is essential, as the technician will provide updates on work status and scheduling. The role also requires reviewing work orders, manuals, and drawings to ensure accurate maintenance and service of equipment. The technician will utilize various testing devices and tools, and must be prepared to handle a wide variety of electro-mechanical devices, including cash registers, coin changers, and security equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety. They should be able to work independently and possess good problem-solving abilities. Experience with EV charging stations or power-related electronics is a plus, as is having electrical certifications or licenses. The position may require participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation with other technicians in the area, ensuring that support is available whenever needed.
Responsibilities
• Troubleshoot various issues and repair them correctly and timely.
,
• Perform Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) testing.
,
• Perform upgrades and revisions as needed.
,
• Manage various testing requirements such as torque, thermal imagery, insulation (megger) and performance reports.
,
• Locate system performance issues and fix ground faults.
,
• Communicate with colleagues and customers regarding scheduling and to provide work status updates.
,
• Correctly review work orders, manuals, and drawings to correctly perform maintenance and service of equipment.
,
• Troubleshoot, inspect, replace/repair a wide variety of electro-mechanical devices such as cash registers, coin changers, security equipment, alarms, and point of sale equipment.

• Complete service requests and maintenance repair items in a timely manner and ensure all requests are handled in a professional manner.

• Utilize various testing devices, multiple hand and power tools related to the job.

• May be temporarily assigned to other geographical areas to provide support with new installations and upgrades.
Requirements
• One+ year experience working in an electrical capacity or education.
,
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills required.
,
• Experience with EV Charging Stations or other power-related electronics is a plus.
,
• Electrical certifications or licenses a plus.
,
• Must be able to work independently and be a strong problem-solver.
,
• Strong attention to safety and willingness to follow all safety protocols.

• Experience with various POS systems (Verifone/NCR) and alarm systems are a plus.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Good driving record is required.

• Ability to use a computer and smartphone proficiently.
