Summary

The role involves desktop research into corporate involvement in areas like coal mining and oil sands and ensuring research quality.

Must Have
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
• 2-6 years of ESG research experience or sustainability interest
• Intermediate to advanced use of Microsoft Office
• Excellent oral and written command of English
• Strong passion for ESG, responsible investment, and sustainability

Overview

ISS STOXX ESG’s Energy & Extractives research team is looking for new colleagues to join the Energy & Extractives research team in Manila. The team conducts energy and extractives industry-focused research in support of ISS STOESG’s responsible investment products. The successful candidate will bring unique insights and expertise to a team of analysts focusing their research on companies within the broader energy sector. This role performs data collection and analysis, reviews the work of other analysts, summarizes findings, works on product offering developments, and collaborates with other teams to deliver high-quality data and research to institutional investors globally. The Energy & Extractives screening team currently has members in Stockholm, Sweden; Mumbai, India; Toronto, Canada, and Manila, the Philippines.

Responsibilities
• Conduct desktop research for ISS ESG’s energy industry-focused responsible investment products. This mainly includes research into corporate involvement in specific activities such as coal mining, carbon reserves, oil sands, etc.
• Produce insightful research reports and participate in the peer review process to ensure research quality.
• Act as a go-to expert on key ESG topics within the energy industry both internally and externally.
• Deliver actionable knowledge on companies to investors by presenting research findings to clients and responding to client queries.
• Participate in and contribute to team processes focused on strengthening our ESG product offering and enhancing our methodology.

Qualifications
• Must have a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, natural resource management, environmental or climate science, or similar.
• At least 2-6 years of relevant ESG research working experience or deep interest in Sustainability/ESG/Environmental Management.
• Experience in data collection and business research is an advantage.
• Intermediate to advanced use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent oral and written command of English (additional language capabilities are an asset).
• Strong passion for ESG, responsible investment, and sustainability.
• High attention to detail and methodical approach to work.
• Ability to work towards deadlines, manage tasks and prioritize.
• Strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and a desire to show initiative.
• Team player who can collaborate across a diverse global team.
