Job Description
ING is hiring an ESG Modeling Analyst in Maple, WV, to support their ESG risk department. The role involves identifying, evaluating, and managing ESG risks through developing methodologies and incorporating them into business strategies. Candidates should have 4-6 years of experience in risk modeling, a relevant degree, programming skills, and the ability to work under pressure. As a part of this commitment, ING has established an environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risk department to identify, assess, quantify and measure the risk that need to be reflected in the bank’s risk appetite.
The team
The ESG Risk team is a team dedicated to assessing and managing ESG risk across the bank, both from an inside-out and outside-in perspective. Following societal awareness and regulatory scrutiny on ESG, the team is taking on the challenge to embed ESG Risk across all parts of the organization, seen as a driver of traditional risk types. Candidates will have the opportunity to work across a wide variety of ESG-related projects, ranging from developing climate risk models and methodology to steer ING’s portfolio and risk management practices to interpreting and embedding upcoming regulatory requirements (e.g. CSRD, EUT, etc). Candidates should be able to meet tight deadlines and work well in a continuously evolving environment.
Roles and responsibilities
The ESG risk department which is part of the CRO domain is growing and requires outstanding, innovative, and engaging professionals to join our team. The focus of the team is set on:
• Risk identification: classifying assets according to their ESG characteristics in order to support the identification of ESG risks based on specific qualitative and quantitative indicators.
• Evaluation: Develop methodologies, policies and processes to measure and assess the potential impact of ESG risks on ING’s exposure.
• Action: Based on the results derived from the evaluation, subsequent actions to incorporate ESG risks through the adoption of a business strategy and risk management approach that support the monitoring and control of ESG risks, including targets and limits, changes in the underwriting criteria as well as any changes to the organisational set-up of ING when appropriate.

• At least 4-6 years work experience in modelling and/or validation of credit or market risk models.
• Degree in sustainability, engineering, environmental science, Computer science, Physics, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Ops research, Engineering.
• Programming experience in SAS or another similar programming language.
• Experience in the use of visualization tools is a plus.
• Fluent English language skills.
• Is creative and curious.
• Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines and willingness to go the extra mile.

• A base salary in scale 11 (€ 5.212 - € 8.387 gross per month based on 36 hours)
