The University of Birmingham is offering an EngD position focused on developing sustainable solutions in the consumer goods sector. The role involves designing eco-friendly products, particularly sustainable perfume capsules, to reduce environmental impact. Candidates should have a background in Engineering or Science. The position provides a tax-free bursary of £25,737 per annum and is open to UK and international students. This is a full-time, on-site role in Birmingham.
Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to make a tangible impact in the consumer goods industry? Join us in a groundbreaking EngD project focused on transforming liquid products into environmentally friendly alternatives. This innovative shift not only conserves precious water resources but also enhances product stability and shelf life, significantly cutting transportation emissions and costs.
In this exciting role, you’ll play a key part in designing the sustainable perfume capsule of tomorrow, utilizing sustainable shell materials to create eco-friendly solutions that meet evolving non-microplastic regulations. By enclosing essential active ingredients within protective shells, we enhance their stability and enable controlled release, paving the way for a greener future.
You'll explore cutting-edge processes to optimize the effectiveness and eco-friendliness of your designs. Your research will include developing prototypes, evaluating performance across various consumer goods, and assessing the environmental footprint of these sustainable practices.
This multidisciplinary project offers you the chance to gain invaluable skills in materials science, testing methodologies, and encapsulation processing, all while contributing to meaningful advancements in sustainability within the consumer goods sector.
If you're ready to take on a hot sustainability topic that will shape the future of consumer products, we want to hear from you. Step into a role where your research can lead to real-world change and help us redefine sustainability goals for the industry.
