Eastern Idaho Public Health is seeking an experienced Epidemiology and Preparedness Program Manager to lead key public health programs focused on disease surveillance and emergency readiness. This role oversees program operations, supervises staff, ensures compliance, and collaborates with partners to support effective public health response and improve community health outcomes.

Position Overview

The Epidemiology and Preparedness Program Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the Epidemiology and Emergency Preparedness programs. This role oversees program operations, manages cross-functional teams, ensures compliance with regulations, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to advance public health goals.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead, manage, and evaluate epidemiology and emergency preparedness programs including developing and oversight of program requirements, goals, objectives, timelines, and performance metrics
• Conduct epidemiological investigations, including case interviews, data collection, and contact tracing
• Utilize strong leadership skills to motivate, develop, and retain high-performing team members
• Handle conflict resolution and employee relations issues professionally and constructively.
• Participate in budget development, monitor funding allocations, and grant reporting requirements
• Supervise and support program staff
• Collaborate with community organizations, government agencies, and healthcare providers
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal public health regulations
• Participate and contribute to data metrics to assess program effectiveness and inform decision-making
• Prepare reports, presentations, and policy recommendations
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation in program delivery
• Participate in district leadership meetings and contribute to organizational planning and policy development.
• Emergency Response Role - Employees of Eastern Idaho Public Health may be requested to respond to public health emergencies in accordance with the District's Public Health Preparedness Plan.
• This position serves in a leadership role within the Incident Command System (ICS), such as Operations Section Chief or Planning Section Chief, and may be required to work extended hours, nights, or weekends during emergencies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the District Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in epidemiology or nursing
• Experience managing or coordinating public health programs or initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in epidemiology, nursing or public health with an emphasis in epidemiology
• Experience with emergency preparedness, response, or incident management frameworks (e.g., ICS/NIMS)
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Strong interview and communication skills
• Experience with government or non-profit organizations
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet project deadlines.
• Knowledge of public health policies, epidemiology, and public health strategies
