Job Description
O6 Environmental is seeking a full-time Environmental Technician in Joplin, Missouri, to monitor and manage wastewater treatment and hazardous waste operations at a battery manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include compliance sampling, deactivating thermal batteries, and assisting in emergency spill responses. Candidates should have 2+ years of relevant experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and be willing to undergo HAZWOPER training. Summary
We are seeking a reliable and knowledgeable Environmental Technician to help monitor, identify, prevent and control wastewater treatment. We are in search for someone who is skilled or has experience in hazardous waste management operations, emergency response spill response. This position is located in a battery manufacturing facility where there will be deactivation of live thermal batteries and preparing materials for proper packaging and shipping compliance.
Duties/Responsibilities
Qualifications
• Collecting samples daily to maintain discharge compliance
• Verifying compliance with regulations to prevent pollution
• Deactivation of live thermal batteries
• Emergency response: Assisting in emergency spill response situations
• Maintaining hazardous waste inventory and database
• Daily collection of hazardous waste and deactivation waste for proper disposal
Skills and Qualifications:
• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to maintain good relationships and team culture
• Time Management: Ability to work independently and manage time to improve productivity
Education and Experience
• 2+ years of industry experience, with hazardous materials preferred.
• Willingness to be trained in Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)
• Willingness to be trained in Hazardous Waste Management Compliance and DOT HAZMAT shipping
Physical Requirements:
• Walking, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting most of the time.
• Forklift Skills
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs frequently
• Climate controlled environment at times, however, can fluctuate between extreme cold or heat.
