About the position

KEMRON Environmental Services, an Employee Owned company, is seeking an Environmental Technician or Field Scientist for work managed from our Marietta, Ohio office. This entry-level position involves extensive fieldwork and travel to various project sites after the completion of required KEMRON training. The primary responsibilities include the collection of samples from various environmental media such as soil, water, groundwater, and waste, as well as conducting field analyses and preparing comprehensive field documentation. The role requires working on environmentally contaminated sites, which may involve hazardous wastes and chemicals, ensuring high-quality service to our clients across diverse project locations. The work environment is predominantly outdoors, and employees must be prepared to work in various weather conditions, including inclement weather. The position necessitates the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection. Candidates should be ready for travel, including overnight stays, and may be required to work overtime or on weekends depending on project needs. The physical demands of the job include the ability to stoop, kneel, climb, traverse uneven land surfaces, and lift up to 50 pounds. Employees will spend a significant portion of their workday standing and must be capable of driving large pick-up trucks and operating field equipment to collect data from environmental monitoring locations. In addition to physical capabilities, the role requires effective communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to follow and transmit instructions accurately. Candidates must demonstrate good manual dexterity and coordination, as well as a willingness to work both independently and as part of a team. The position also requires a minimum of an Associate's degree in Environmental Science or a related field, with relevant experience preferred. Computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel, are desired, along with a valid state driver's license and a clean driving history.

Responsibilities
• Collect samples from environmental media including soil, water, groundwater, and waste.

• Conduct field analyses and prepare complete field documentation.

• Maintain equipment used for environmental monitoring and data collection.

• Work on environmentally contaminated sites, potentially involving hazardous wastes and chemicals.

• Travel to and from project sites, including overnight travel as required.

• Perform data collection and maintenance, interpreting field equipment readings and data.

• Complete annual or bi-annual employment physicals as required.

Requirements
• Minimum Associate's degree in Environmental Science or equivalent with 2 years relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or equivalent.

• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Proficient in using equipment and tools safely and effectively, including field troubleshooting.
