Environmental Technician

The Environmental Technician at American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead, MN operates mud presses and equipment for flume operations, conducts pond inspections, collects samples, and performs laboratory tests for water treatment processes. Responsibilities include monitoring system operations, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a clean working environment. This full-time position offers a salary of $22 per hour and does not require a degree.
Operates mud presses and related equipment associated with the flume operation. Responsible for pond inspections, examples: pond levels, pump inspections, setup temporary pumping stations and hoses to manage pond water. Collects samples and operates laboratory equipment, performs analytical tests – percent solids, settling, pH and other analytical tests with accuracy for monitoring water treatment processes. Performs related record-keeping. Monitors water treatment-system operation – aerobic, anaerobic, flume clarifier and the methane system to maintain operating targets. Performs miscellaneous mechanical duties, examples: change valves, gauges, etc., as required to ensure maximum operating efficiency. Understands and is able to identify water treatment equipment. Adjusts process flow to maintain efficient operation of all water systems in accordance with established guidelines and safety rules. Makes process changes locally or on computer control system.
Maintains good housekeeping practice of equipment, all work areas and building for a clean and safe working environment.
