Who We're Looking For: A motivated and energetic individual who is interested in building science and systems as well as environmental health & safety concerns. Technicians will spend the majority of their time at project sites in their respective areas and occasionally throughout California. Technicians will also prepare reports and other project documents related to field operations. Candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision, learn quickly, and possess excellent problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor's, Master's, or equivalent degree in a Science-related field.
Experience:
• 2 to 5 years in the industry, with a focus on asbestos, lead, water intrusion, indoor air quality, and mold/moisture inspections.
• Skills: Excellent communication
• Client management
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
Certifications:
• Asbestos: Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) required.*
• Lead: CA Inspector/Assessor or Sampling Technician preferred or ability to obtain.
• Additional certifications like CHMM, 40 Hour HAZWOPER, and CIE/CMI are desirable but not required.
Other Requirements:
• Mastery of the English language – written and spoken.
• Valid driver's license.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to occasionally work at heights greater than 6 feet (examples: ladders, rooftops, man-lifts, scaffolding).
• Ability to occasionally work in confined spaces (examples: crawlspaces, attics).
• Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must be able to walk up/down multiple flights of stairs.
• Ability to complete all mandatory trainings, including safety training.
• Availability for off-hour emergency work.
• Respond as a member of the Hillmann 24-hour disaster response team.
• We welcome candidates with initial asbestos AHERA certifications eligible for state certification tests.
Responsibilities:
• Perform air, surface, and water sampling.
• Conduct thorough investigations related to Industrial Hygiene, including indoor air quality, mold/moisture inspections, asbestos surveys, and lead-based paint inspections.
• Develop remediation plans, report findings, and ensure compliance with industry guidelines.
• Maintain certifications and licenses.
• Respond to client emergencies as needed.
