Environmental Sustainability Specialist

Are you passionate about driving sustainability initiatives and making a tangible impact? We are looking for an Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join one of the UK's most establish companies in their field. This role will focus on supporting sustainability efforts across both UK operations and a European headquarters, working towards reducing environmental impacts and promoting a circular economy.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance and Reporting:
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and standards in the UK.
• Support international material compliance processes.
• Prepare and submit sustainability reports to regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
• Update and incorporate technical changes in sustainability group policies.

Data Analysis and Management:
• Collect, analyse, and manage sustainability data, including maintaining inventory in compliance software (e.g., SAP Product and Reach Compliance).
• Calculate product carbon footprints for both UK and European operations.
• Support data inquiries, annual reporting, and ratings.
• Identify areas for improvement using data-driven insights and track project effectiveness

Sustainable Procurement:
• Support procurement teams to ensure sustainable sourcing of materials, services, and suppliers.
• Assist in answering sustainability-related questions as part of procurement processes.

Sustainability Strategies:
• Contribute to the development and execution of comprehensive sustainability plans.
• Monitor progress and report on sustainability projects.

Stakeholder Engagement:
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability goals.
• Provide training sessions and workshops to raise awareness of sustainability practices.
• Support corporate social responsibility (CSR) management by responding to sustainability-related inquiries.

Research and Innovation:
• Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies related to sustainability.
• Proofread and improve sustainability communication materials.

Requirements:
• Experience in a sustainability or environmental administration role, looking to advance into an advisor/specialist position.
• Background in data science, environmental sciences, sustainability, business administration, engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of carbon footprint analysis and reduction strategies.
• Familiarity with environmental legislation and frameworks (e.g., Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Battery Regulation, REACH, RoHS, ISO 14001, 50001).
• Proficient in data management and reporting tools (SAP experience preferred).
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
