We are seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Manager for our Meridian, MS facility who will lead plant safety initiatives and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements.
Job Description
• Serve as Team Leader for the plant safety initiatives.
• Perform periodic safety inspections and audits to promote continuous compliance with OSHA requirements and to reveal unsafe work practices and conditions.
• Conduct accident/injury investigations and work with the HR Manager to complete all legally required documentation and records.
• Maintain all safety and waste program-related records, manifests, and associated files, including SDS.
• Coordinate with corporate environmental and safety personnel to ensure all plant deadlines and compliance issues are addressed in a timely manner.
• Provide technical assistance and feedback to management and production staff regarding staff and environmental issues.
• Oversee Employee Personal Protection Equipment Program and provides assistance to employees in designing and implementing ergonomically safe working environments.
• Work with corporate to maintain and update environmental policy and procedure manuals for the plant.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and keep abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the plant.
• Serve as plant contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities
• Minimum three (3) years working in a production/manufacturing environment.
• Previous Lean manufacturing, 5S and TPM experience preferred.
Requirements
• Must have the ability to make sound organizational skills.
• Must have the ability to provide relevant and timely information both verbally and in writing.
• Must have the ability to follow through on the completion of assigned tasks promptly; anticipate what needs to be done and proceed without direction promptly.
• Must have the ability to think through issues and develop solutions promptly.
• Must have the ability to solve advanced arithmetic, statistics, and algebra problems.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret governmental policies and procedures; present information and respond to questions from employees and all levels of management.
