Environmental Sustainability Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Specialist to provide technical support for effective environmental systems maintenance. As a key member of our team, you will serve as a subject matter expert in at least one medium (air, water, waste). Your primary responsibilities include managing environmental compliance, developing and maintaining environmental permits, and providing training and support to facility personnel to ensure adherence to governmental regulations and company policies.

Main Responsibilities:
• Interpret current and potential EHS regulatory requirements affecting the facility, working with departments to create and maintain EHS policies, systems, and processes.
• Monitor and measure the effectiveness of facility EHS system metrics, identify improvement opportunities, and execute work priorities and plans independently.
• Provide guidance as a subject matter expert in areas such as air, water, and waste management practices, ensuring compliance with regulations and company standards.
• Assist in incident investigations related to environmental considerations, conduct evaluations to identify trends and root causes, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Participate in company audits and site inspections by regulatory personnel and collaborate with departments to integrate environmental best practices into operating procedures and engineering practices.

Required Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience typically required to complete all essential job functions: Preferred Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• At least 8 years of engineering experience with a combination of operations/engineering at a comparable chemical manufacturing company or engineering & technology services provider.
