DSJ Global is seeking an Environmental & Sustainability Specialist based in Bowling Green, KY, to ensure compliance and sustainability across multiple facilities. The role involves overseeing environmental practices remotely for sites in Rhode Island and New York while being physically present at the Kentucky plant. Key responsibilities include managing EPA compliance, hazardous waste, and sustainability initiatives. Candidates should have 5+ years of relevant experience and a degree in a related field.
About the Role:
A leading innovator in adhesive manufacturing is looking for an Environmental & Sustainability Specialist to drive compliance and sustainability across multiple facilities. Based at their Kentucky plant, this role also provides remote oversight for sites in Rhode Island and New York, ensuring top-tier environmental practices. You'll be at the forefront of air and water permitting, hazardous waste management, and regulatory reporting, helping shape a cleaner, more sustainable future in a fast-growing industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure EPA compliance across all manufacturing operations, including air, water, and waste regulations.
• Manage Title 5 Air Permitting and ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
• Oversee RCRA hazardous waste management, ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal.
• Implement and maintain ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems to drive continuous improvement.
• Maintain compliance with stormwater and wastewater regulations, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal laws.
• Ensure proper training and procedures for handling HAZMAT materials and compliance with regulations.
• Utilize EH&S software and environmental reporting tools to track compliance, incidents, and sustainability metrics.
• Develop and execute sustainability initiatives to reduce the company's environmental footprint.
• Conduct environmental audits and risk assessments, identifying areas for improvement.
• Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, ensuring timely reporting and compliance submissions.
• Provide training and guidance to employees on environmental policies, safety procedures, and best practices.
• Oversee remote compliance and sustainability efforts at the company's Rhode Island and New York facilities while being physically present at the Kentucky plant.
• Travel 5-10% of the time (approximately 2-4 trips per year) to the other locations for in-person assessments.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience in environmental compliance, sustainability, or EH&S within the manufacturing industry (preferably adhesives, chemicals, or plastics).
• Strong knowledge of EPA regulations, Title 5 Air Permitting, and RCRA hazardous waste management.
• Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
• Familiarity with stormwater and wastewater compliance regulations.
• Understanding of HAZMAT regulations and best practices.
• Proficiency in EH&S software and environmental reporting tools.
• Ability to analyze and interpret environmental data and regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication skills to train employees and collaborate with regulatory agencies.
• Ability to work autonomously on-site while managing remote oversight of other facilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field preferred.
