Job Description

Skanska UK PLC is seeking an Environmental Sustainability Manager for a major project in Penrith, Cumbria, Australia. The role involves ensuring environmental compliance, advising teams, managing Environmental Advisors, conducting audits, and delivering training on sustainability practices. We are looking for an Environmental Sustainability Manager to join our infrastructure team on a major project in Penrith, Cumbria.

What you'll do:
• Responsible for environmental compliance across all major aspects - water, waste, noise/vibration and ecological.
• Provide environmental compliance advice to various teams including design, construction, procurement, subcontractors, and suppliers on practical implementation of contract policies.
• Manage and mentor the development of project Environmental Advisors.
• Assist the Environmental Lead in developing and implementing the Environmental Management Plan and other site-specific control measures.
• Undertake internal and external environmental audits and inspections, including those for suppliers and waste contractors.
• Deliver suitable environmental and sustainability training for all project staff.
• Drive awareness for and delivery against contract targets, particularly reducing Carbon emissions, improving materials efficiency, and achieving no-net loss in biodiversity.

What you'll bring to the role:
• Degree level in appropriate Environmental or relevant discipline or equivalent (e.g., NVQ).
• Several years' construction industry experience or relevant environmental experience in a similar sector.
• Minimum Practitioner Membership with IEMA or similar professional membership.
