Job Description
The State of Missouri is hiring an Environmental Specialist for the Northeast Regional Office in Macon, MO. The role involves conducting environmental inspections, preparing documentation, processing permit applications, and providing compliance assistance. Candidates should have attention to detail, customer service skills, and the ability to work independently. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred. This position will be located at the Northeast Regional Office, 1709 Prospect Drive, Macon, Missouri.
• Schedule and conduct environmental inspections and investigations at permitted and unpermitted facilities in the Northeast Region.
• Prepare documentation that is timely and accurate (reports, correspondence, photographs, data entry, and forms) and conduct follow-up work for timely compliance.
• Perform monitoring and sampling, as needed.
• Process permit applications and issue general water pollution permits.
• Provide compliance and technical assistance to the regulated community, and general assistance to the public, on water pollution requirements, both in the office and onsite.
• Conduct emergency response to situations that require immediate action, including outside regular work hours.
• Perform other related work as assigned.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
• A Bachelor’s degree and 0-4 years of relevant experience
• Preferred degree program would include the following: Environmental Science or Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Physical Science, Geology, Forestry, Soil Science, Ecology, Wildlife Management, Agriculture, Animal Science, Natural Resource Management, Soil Conservation, or a closely related field.
