Bowhead is seeking an Environmental Specialist - NEPA Compliance Expert in Anchorage, AK. The role involves developing NEPA documents, analyzing environmental impacts, and creating permit packages. This is a full-time, on-site position.
Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist to join our team at Bowhead. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development of NEPA documents, including Environmental Assessments, and assisting in research and project development.

This is a full-time position located in Anchorage, Alaska, and the ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental and regulatory requirements for construction projects in Alaska, including the NEPA process.

The Environmental Specialist will work closely with our team to analyze environmental impact, provide detailed written analysis, and develop permit packages. Strong writing, grammar, and citation skills are essential for this role, and the ability to work methodically and independently is also required.
Responsibilities
• Analyzing environmental impact and providing detailed written analysis, supported by evidence-based research and best available science.
• Writing work plans, safety plans, and wildlife interaction plans.
• Developing detailed project descriptions based on information received verbally in meetings and on project drawings/schematics.
• Following existing procedures for document review, organization, and file structure.
• Communicating clearly and respectfully to all coworkers, clients, and stakeholders.
Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years experience applying NEPA, obtaining project authorizations in Alaska, or working in a similar position/similar field.
• Familiarity with environmental and regulatory requirements for construction projects in Alaska, including an understanding of the NEPA process.
• General understanding of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act and landownership in the State.
• Essential to this role are strong writing, grammar, and citation skills. Please provide a writing example.
• MS Office Suite: Word and Excel, Adobe.
