Job Description:
This position serves as a grant coordinator the Litter and Waste Reduction & Recycling Grants which include grants to assist in financing sound integrated waste management programs and projects. This position will review and evaluate grant applications and quarterly reports with applicable guidelines, assist grant applicants and current grantees in using the electronic grant portal, conduct on-site audits of grant financial records, grand funded equipment inspections, and complaint investigations and prepare reports as requested.
Job Duties
• Reviews and evaluates grant applications with applicable guidelines.
• Review and evaluates quarterly reports with applicable guidelines for reimbursement.
• Assists grant applications and current grantees in using the electronic grant portal.
• Initiate enforcement of rules and regulations and the terms and conditions related to the reviewing of grants and grantee quarterly reports.
• Presents program material and answers questions in front of a variety of audiences.
• Provides responses to public and government leaders' questions about Litter Reduction & Recycling Grants.
• Prepares educational and informational presentations for internal and external trainings and workshops, when requested.
• Works with IT on the electronic grant portal.
• Gathers and updates program information and statistics for Annual Reports.
• Write, edit, and revise protocols, guidance documents, application forms, reporting forms, and reports.

What you will do!
You will serve as an Environmental Specialist II in Waste and Air Grants Section. The Waste Grants program provides funds to support programs to reduce litter, provide education, and promote recycling in Nebraska. You will be responsible for administering the Litter and Waste Reduction and Recycling Grant programs, which includes reviewing and evaluating grant applications and quarterly reports with applicable guidelines, assisting grant applicants and current grantees in using the electronic grant portal, conducting on-site audits of grant financial records, grand funded equipment inspections, and complaint investigations and preparing reports as requested.

Location: 245 Fallbrook Blvd - Suite #100 - Lincoln, NE
Work schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Flexible schedule and 10-hour workdays maybe allowed with management approval.
Dress Code: Business Casual
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in the physical sciences, natural sciences, environmental science, geology, biology, agronomy, civil engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, hydrology, community and regional planning, or a related field. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in communications, management, marketing, public administration, business administration, economics, or finance; or bachelor's degree in the physical sciences, natural sciences, environmental science, geology, biology, agronomy, civil engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, hydrology, community, and regional planning. Three years' experience in government grants management or environmental and natural resources, or in business development fields.
Other:
• Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent transportation
• Ability to occasional overnight travel 5 - 10%
• Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance
• Submit a resume or list on the application specific detailed experience relevant to the position in years and months
• Submit a current list of at least professional references (previous employers) with valid telephone numbers
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of: Methods and practices of the inter-relationships of agency marketing, communications, advertising, and public relation/information activities; grant and contract management, banking and financial industry, energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy production and/or conservation of natural resources. Data collection, analysis, organization, and report preparation processes; energy issues and trends; state and federal regulations pertaining to energy conservation programs; energy conservation concepts.
Skill In: Excellent written and oral communication; public speaking and providing presentations; prioritizing workloads; analytical and judgment skills; computer application software skills.
Ability To: Work with a variety of people with diverse interests and backgrounds; present new ideas and observations to a variety of people in an easily understood manner; call on potential program participants, financial institutions, and vendors.
