Job Description

CommonSpirit Health is hiring an Environmental Services Technician for their CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake Hospital in ND. The role involves cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms and hospital areas to prevent illness. Responsibilities include using specialized equipment, adhering to biohazard disposal techniques, and maintaining cleanliness. Candidates should be physically fit and able to follow instructions. A high school diploma is preferred but not required.
Overview

CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake Hospital is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital accredited by The Joint Commission licensed by the North Dakota State Department of Health and certified by the Department of Health and Human Services for participation in the Medicare Program. Our hospital has been committed to providing patients quality medical treatment in the Lake Region area and surrounding communities since 1902.

Responsibilities

As an Environmental Services Technician with us you’ll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized to protect everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards.

You’ll succeed in this job if you are thorough and committed to safety. Not only will you perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping or dusting you will also use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize this facility.

You must learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You will learn about and safely use disinfecting chemicals and learn techniques and procedures for cleaning certain specialized rooms or pieces of equipment. You may also refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, tissue holders and other supplies as well as deliver clean linens to patient rooms.

You will excel in this role if you are friendly and enthusiastic about helping others. You are truly the most important component of safety and comfort for our patients, visitors and staff. A clean facility with kind staff provides so much comfort and peace of mind to patients, their loved ones and everyone working here.

Qualifications
• Must be able to read and write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Extensive and constant amounts of physical effort required which include walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, stopping and operation of light machinery.

Preferred:
• High School Diploma or GED.
