Job Description

Coastal Resources, Inc. is hiring full-time Entry and Mid-Level Environmental Scientists/Water Resource Engineers in Annapolis, MD. Responsibilities include stream and wetland restoration design, stormwater management, and conducting assessments. Candidates need a relevant degree and experience with software like AutoCAD and GIS. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential. Salary ranges from $60-90,000 depending on experience.
Coastal Resources, Inc. (www.coastal-resources.net), is an ecological consulting firm located in Annapolis, MD. We are currently accepting applications for a full-time Entry and Mid-Level Environmental Scientist/Water Resources Engineers. Responsibilities will include designing stream and wetland restoration and stormwater management, conducting watershed and geomorphic assessments, performing hydrologic and hydraulic studies, monitoring existing stream/wetland/stormwater management (SWM) sites, analyzing drainage patterns, using GIS and CADD for the development of stream and wetland restoration and SWM plans, and reporting.

Entry Level Environmental Scientist/Water Resources Engineer

Candidates must have excellent problem solving and written/oral communication skills, good attention to detail and organizational skills, and eager to collaborate closely with the other members of the team to meet project objectives.

Salary Range: $60-75,000/yr. CRI is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of salary range for this role. This range is determined by many factors including but not limited to experience, training, skill sets, interpersonal skills, internal salary equity, licensure and certifications, and other organizational needs. CRI will evaluate the specific skills and qualities of an individual candidate to determine the appropriate salary for that specific hire.

Required Experience:
• B.A. or B.S. degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, or a related field
• 0-3+ Years’ experience
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation
• Excellent technical writing skills
• Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word, and Excel
• Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Preferred Requirements:
• E.I.T (Engineer-in-Training) certification or ability to obtain (if applicable)
• Coursework in hydrology, hydraulics, open channel flow, sediment transport, soils and/or geomorphology
• Experience with ESRI’s ArcMap/ArcPro/ArcGIS Online
• Experience in hydrologic data collection and topographic surveying,
• Experience with TR-55, TR-20, HEC-RAS, Rivermorph or GISHydro software
• Experience working effectively both independently and in multi-disciplinary teams

Mid-Level Environmental Scientist/Water Resources Engineer

Candidates must have design and plan development experience as well as excellent problem solving and written/oral communication skills, good attention to detail and organizational skills, and eager to collaborate closely with the other members of the team to meet project objectives.

Salary Range: $75-90,000/yr. CRI is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of salary range for this role. This range is determined by many factors including but not limited to experience, training, skill sets, interpersonal skills, internal salary equity, licensure and certifications, and other organizational needs. CRI will evaluate the specific skills and qualities of an individual candidate to determine the appropriate salary for that specific hire.

Required Qualifications:
• B.S. or B.A. degree required with a major in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a similar design field
• 3+ years of experience in developing contract documents including plans, specifications and estimates for the stream restoration design and/or stormwater management design projects
• Experience conducting geomorphic surveys, monitoring stream restoration projects, watershed assessment, stormwater facility inspections, stormwater management monitoring, stream mitigation site searches, stream corridor assessments, performing data entry and analysis, and report preparation

· Knowledge of H&H modeling software (HEC-RAS, HY-8, TR-55, and TR-20)
• Familiar with Maryland Stormwater Management and Erosion & Sediment Control regulations
• Proficiency with GPS and GIS technologies to support technical field work and reporting
• Proficient with CADD software (Microstation/AutoCAD Civil 3D)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required
• Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:
• PE license (if applicable)
• Experience with leading the preparation of reports, plans, specifications and estimates
• Rosgen or other stream restoration training
• Experience working effectively both independently and in multi-disciplinary teams
• Ability to mentor less experienced staff
