Job Description
Medasource is hiring Environmental Scientists for a 6-month contract in Cookeville, TN. Candidates will conduct compliance inspections related to sewage discharges and water quality, collect environmental samples, and prepare reports. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, along with experience in environmental regulations. The role involves outdoor work in various weather conditions and offers a salary of $24–26 per hour.
Position: Environmental Scientists
Locations: Cookeville & Columbia, TN
Duration: 6-month contract to hire
Schedule: Standard Monday - Friday, 37.5 hour work week. (Might have some days that are longer than others, but will flex days if so)

Job Description:
Our client is seeking a motivated individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for environmental fieldwork to join their current team and help conduct complaince inspections related to illegal sewage discharges, water quality violations, water wells, and / or fish kills in their local community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct field-based compliance inspections at residential sites for potential violations such as illegal sewage discharges, water quality issues, and septic system concerns
• Collect and test environmental samples for contaminants like E. coli
• Interpret and apply EPA and state environmental regulations to field observations
• Prepare and maintain digital reports, permit documentation, and inspection records
• Communicate findings clearly and professionally to homeowners, contractors, and internal teams
• Assist with investigations into water wells, fish kills, and other ecological concerns
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Soil Science, or a related field
• Academic or hands-on experience in one or more of the following: wastewater systems, hydrology, soil science, biodiversity, GIS, geotechnical systems, or environmental regulations
• Foundational knowledge of septic systems (SSDS), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and NPDES permitting is a strong plus (training provided)
• Prior experience in sample collection or field testing
• Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work independently
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods
