Environmental Scientist/Industrial Hygienist

Locations: Los Angeles or Orange County | ~50% field / 50% remote

Apex is seeking an environmental professional with experience in industrial hygiene to perform asbestos, lead-paint, mold/moisture intrusion, exposure assessment, abatement monitoring, and related industrial hygiene and EHS compliance projects across Southern California.

Key Responsibilities

Perform asbestos, lead-based paint (LBP), and microbial/moisture intrusion assessments, along with abatement oversight, with an approximate 50/50 split between field and office workConduct safety and compliance assessments in accordance with regulatory standards and client requirementsSupport additional environmental services through cross-training, including: Exposure assessmentsWorkplace safety evaluationsStormwater compliance inspectionsSoil and groundwater samplingNoise and air monitoringAboveground Storage Tank (AST) inspectionsExecute work in alignment with project work plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and direction from project managersManage scheduling and logistics across all project phases, from coordination and fieldwork through reportingPrepare clear, accurate, and technically sound client-ready reports using project-specific templatesCollaborate with internal teams to support project delivery and ongoing professional developmentMaintain and proactively pursue relevant certifications, including 40-Hour HAZWOPER, CAC, and/or CSSTQualifications

2+ years of professional experience conducting asbestos surveys and mold/moisture intrusion inspections as an AHERA-accredited inspector (in any state)Current AHERA certification requiredCalifornia Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) and/or Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) preferredBachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Microbiology, or a related fieldWhat We're Looking For
