(DRG) has an opportunity for an Environmental Scientist Technician in Indianapolis, Indiana. DRG is a leader in tree and ecological science throughout the U.S. and Canada. DUTIES: The Environmental Consulting service group at DRG is focused on meeting the urban forestry and natural resources needs of our client. The primary duties of an environmental scientist are to assist with tree inventories and ecological restoration projects throughout Indiana (approximately 60% of work) and the midwest/southern region of the U.S. (approximately 40% of work). This supporting role will require skilled work and efficient communication with Site and Project Managers across both DRG's urban forestry and ecological restoration service lines. Urban forestry work will require reading, following, and creating maps while inspecting and maintaining trees. Ecological restoration work will require inspecting and maintaining a wide range of habitat restoration projects. Daily tasks will include GIS/GPS inventory, tree species identification, tree risk assessment/mitigation, tree maintenance, tree planting, seeding/plug installation, prescribed burns, and invasive species control using both mechanical and chemical means. As experience is gained, duties may transition to a more singular purpose as a more focused career path develops. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:*Ability and willingness to travel. *Ability to work outdoors and hike in varying terrain and weather conditions. *Ability to identify up to 50 native and/or non native trees found in Indiana. *Have or ability to obtain an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist Certification within one year of hire. *Four-year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Arboriculture, or Landscape Architecture is preferred. *High school diploma or GED with three or more years of full-time, practical work experience in arboriculture will be considered comparable to a college degree. *Indiana Certified Pesticide Applicator or ability to earn certification. *Current Driver's License and Driving Record in good standing. *Working knowledge of computers and Word, Excel, Google Applications, and GIS/GPS.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Full-time hourly position with potential for overtime pay.
