Job Summary

We are seeking qualified applicants for an on-site Environmental Scientist position in Columbus, OH.

The Environment Division within the Environment and Agriculture Business Line conducts research, characterization, and remediation of environmental contamination, and designs and implements environmentally sustainable remedial technologies.

The selected candidate will support complex and innovative environmental characterization, remediation projects, and sustainable resource recovery and management projects. The position will include research, data management, data synthesis, and fieldwork. Work will be conducted for government or private sector clients.

Responsibilities
• Support the planning and execution of technology assessments for critical minerals characterization and recovery technologies. This includes stakeholder engagement, literature research, report writing, data synthesis, communicating with technology developers, and general planning efforts.
• Conduct research and data synthesis for human health and ecological risk assessments to support environmental site characterization and remedial investigation studies.
• Review reports, conduct research, and synthesize information on contaminated site characterization and remediation processes.
• Participate in environmental field sampling activities throughout the United States to investigate contamination in soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment.
• Collect, record, and manage field and sample data. Follow data quality requirements.
• Flexibility to work overtime, extended hours, and off-shifts as project needs arise.

Key Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in the research process, including experimental design, chemical analysis methods, data synthesis and statistics, and literature review and research report writing.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Willingness to learn new things and expand skillset.
• Experience conducting fieldwork.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong computer skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
• Able to travel. Travel is expected to be up to 10%.
• Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident.
