Wood Plc is offering an Environmental Scientist/Geologist internship in Portland, ME, focusing primarily on fieldwork in Limestone, ME. Overview / Responsibilities
Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions currently has an opportunity for an Environmental Intern in the Portland, ME office. Will perform work on a flexible, on-call basis primarily as fieldwork in Limestone, ME.
Located in Portland, Maine, Wood offers the technical challenges of projects located throughout the US. Interns will work with a multi-disciplinary project team providing field sampling methodology, technical documentation, and data management. This internship will provide necessary career skills and required regulatory training in the environmental consulting industry paving the way for rapid job placement upon graduation.

Key Responsibilities:
The position is approximately 90% field work and 10% office work in support of a federal site located in Limestone, ME. Office related tasks will be conducted remotely Field activities include logging soil borings, oversight of groundwater monitoring well installations and collecting soil, groundwater, soil vapor, air, surface water and sediment samples as well as documenting field activities Remote office activities include analysis and interpretation of analytical results and the preparation of field summary reports under the supervision of the Field Lead or a Senior Scientist Abide by Wood's safety conscious cultureSkills / QualificationsSkills/Qualifications
Required:
Current undergraduate (minimum Junior level) or graduate student in good standing working towards a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Geology or closely related field within an accredited program Must be a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong computer skills for database work and proficiency in MS Office Flexible to work outside normal business hours as required Willingness to travel to project sites in Maine and surrounding states Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record and vehicle driver's license in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policyPreferred Qualifications:
OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification. Wood will provide the training opportunity, as needed to qualified candidates. First Aid & CPR certificationsPhysical Demands:
