About the position

We are currently accepting applications for a Full-Time Temporary Environmental Scientist to join our Energy/Utilities group in Mount Laurel, NJ. This role is designed for candidates who possess a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a related field, and have 1-3+ years of professional experience in the environmental sector. The ideal candidate will have a detailed knowledge of Erosion and Sediment Control Practices, as well as experience in conducting natural resource surveys. Proficiency in utilizing GPS and GIS technologies, particularly ArcGIS, is essential for project data collection, analysis, and reporting. Additionally, candidates should be proficient in technical writing and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task effectively are critical for success in this position. The Environmental Scientist will primarily engage in fieldwork across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware, with limited time spent in our Mount Laurel office. The role requires a collaborative approach, with proactive daily communication among team members, while also being able to operate independently in a remote setting. Previous experience in virtual collaboration is preferred. Knowledge of Soil Erosion & Sediment Control Plan interpretation and documentation of compliance with construction permit plans is strongly preferred, along with experience in wetland fieldwork and delineations. Permitting experience is also a plus. The primary responsibilities of this position include conducting environmental compliance inspections on active construction projects, which are predominantly located in New Jersey but may extend to fieldwork in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland. Adherence to strict safety protocols on active construction sites is essential. The role may also involve the development and review of permit applications, as well as other natural resource-related fieldwork for linear projects in both Transportation and Energy sectors.
