About the position
The Environmental Scientist position at the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) in North Dakota focuses on ensuring the quality of drinking water through compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act. The role involves monitoring public water systems, providing technical assistance, and developing necessary protocols and systems to maintain water safety standards.
Responsibilities
• Help develop review and maintain PWS system information needed for Lead Service Line Inventories and Replacement Plans.
,
• Help develop, maintain, and update all sampling protocols associated with the LCRI and their associated monitoring plans.
,
• Assist with PWS Corrosion Control Treatment Changes and any Source Water Monitoring Requirements.
,
• Help develop and maintain any Small System Provisions of the LCRI.
,
• Continue to develop and maintain Lead Testing in Schools and Childcare Facilities programs.
,
• Help develop Public Notification and Education communication for training water operators, engineers, city officials, and the public.
,
• Help develop Data Management Systems needed to track all aspects of the LCRI and assist with Primacy Requirements as needed.

• Provide technical assistance and training to public and private water systems on Lead and Copper issues.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.

• Experience in environmental monitoring and compliance.

• Knowledge of the Safe Drinking Water Act and related regulations.
