Environmental Scientist

SCS Engineers seeks an Environmental Scientist in West Des Moines, IA, to support solid waste and environmental projects. Responsibilities include field and office work, multi-media sampling, compliance monitoring, and construction oversight. Candidates should have a degree in environmental science and relevant experience. The role involves fieldwork across Iowa and occasional overnight travel. What we are looking for:

We are looking for an independent, environmental scientist to assist with the workload of diverse, challenging solid waste and environmental projects in Iowa and Midwest states as needed. This position is based in the Des Moines, Iowa metro area. You will provide support to our existing solid waste practice consisting of landfill and landfill gas system construction, operation, and monitoring, for private and municipal clients. This position includes opportunities for monitoring, analysis, feasibility studies, regulatory compliance, report writing, and construction oversight.

How you can make an impact:
• A mixture of office and field work expected.
• Multi-media sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air) and reporting.
• Compliance monitoring, permitting, document preparation, statistical analysis, and proposals.
• Oversight of construction activities.
• Long field days and work at job sites throughout Iowa and other states as needed can be expected with this position.
• Occasional overnight travel will be required.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field required.
• Minimum of 3 months of relevant environmental internship, work and/or research experience required.
• Field equipment and field sampling experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license with driving record in good standing required.

Pay Range: USD $50,000.00 - USD $60,000.00 /Yr.
