Environmental Scientist 2 -- Nuclear Fuel Services - Erwin, TN

Summary Description of Job:

Proficient in design and execution of monitoring programs and investigative studies and provides supervision to ensure effective implementation of these activities. Responsibilities of this position include identifying and resolving issues affecting data quality or validity and ensuring results are properly interpreted and communicated.

Major Duties and Responsibilities of Job:

1. Designs monitoring programs and investigative studies pursuant to applicable technical, regulatory, safety and quality criteria; considers the concept of quality improvement and incorporates improvements in designs.

2. Ensures safety and environmental data are representative of conditions being measured and analytical results are properly reviewed and validated; identifies and revolves issues affective data quality or validity.

3. Interprets safety and environmental data and effectively communicates findings and recommendations to project and program management.

4. Prepares plans and procedures specifying sampling strategies, data quality criteria, and methods for sampling, analyses, and data management.

5. Prepares reports documenting methods, results, findings, and conclusions from investigative studies and monitoring programs.

6. Provides supervision and/or technical direction to staff responsible for executing data collection, processing, and management tasks; ensures program and project objectives are achieved in accordance with specified criteria.

7. Primary point of contact for safety and environmental subcontractors, i.e. laboratories, drillers, and professional services; effectively communicates specifications and requirements, monitors work to ensure satisfactory performance, resolves problem issues, and report progress to project and program management.

8. Promotes teamwork and cooperation; may function as team leader or group supervisor.

Educational Requirements of Job:

B. S. -- Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science or related degree with an additional two years' experience.

Experience Requirements (Beyond educational or equivalent):

With a B. S. degree three (3) to five (5) years' experience. Post graduate studies may substitute for some work experience.

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $64,000 and $101,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
