The Position
Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Division of Environmental Protection Administration is seeking to fill a vacant Environmental Scientist 1 (underfill for Environmental Scientist 3) position located in Reno. Bureau of Safe Drinking Water Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning, development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, technical support services, safe drinking water program, and other environmental programs. Under the general direction of the supervisor, this position serves as the BSDW Safe Drinking Water Information System Database Administrator and assists BSDW Compliance Branch staff with ensuring that regulated Public Water Systems (PWS) comply with State and Federal Safe Drinking Water Act regulations. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the physical, natural resource or life sciences, engineering or closely related field; OR graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of technical environmental experience which involved assisting in environmental program research and planning; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
