Environmental Science – Sample Collection

Environmental Monitoring Services is seeking an Environmental Science professional for sample collection, primarily in the field at landfills and industrial sites in the southeast. The position involves 95% outdoor work and requires approximately 50% overnight travel during weekdays. Candidates should have a science-related degree or relevant experience, a valid Georgia driver's license, and be safety-conscious. The role offers a full-time schedule with benefits including health and dental insurance.
We conduct compliance monitoring (groundwater and surface water sample collection, methane monitoring) at municipal and commercial/private landfills and industrial sites. The job is 95% field work (outside – hot, humid, sun, rain, cold, snow) around the southeast and requires ~ 50% overnight travel M-F (some weeks just 1 night, some up to 4 nights).

Education Requirements: Degree in a science-related field or some relevant experience

Pre-Hire Conditions: Valid GEORGIA driver’s license, 5-Year Clean MVR, Reliable Transportation

Post-Hire Conditions: Maintain clean MVR and hold a valid GA driver’s license, Successfully complete OSHA 40-hour training and annual 8-hour refresher

Requirements: Safety-conscious, Detail-oriented, Utilize all types of sampling equipment, Interpret data from meters (pH, dissolved oxygen, etc.), Perform calculations (relatively simple math), Traverse a 3:1 grade, Lift 50 lbs waist high

Supervisory Level: Minimal after initial training

Reports to: Supervisor

Primary Duties: Groundwater and Surface Water sample collection, Methane Monitoring, Equipment Maintenance (prefer mechanical aptitude)

Secondary Duties: Geoprobe / Drilling helper
