Description
The Environmental Restoration Ecologist / Scientist will play a vital role in our Environmental Hydrology and Design practice, focusing on habitat restoration and multi-benefit flood management from watershed headwaters to the sea. This position requires collaboration with a diverse team of engineers, geomorphologists, landscape architects, biologists, and restoration ecologists to create ecological solutions that integrate effective engineering design and ecological function.

Skills
• Technical expertise in restoration ecology and familiarity with California’s native habitats
• Experience in producing native habitat restoration design documents
• Proficient in environmental science and permitting principles
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
• Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams
Responsibilities
• Select, apply, and adapt standard techniques for restoration design projects
• Collaborate with specialists to develop habitat restoration approaches
• Author environmental documents including technical memoranda and biological assessments
• Conduct and lead biological field studies such as native flora and fauna surveys
• Serve as a Deputy Project Manager or Project Manager overseeing project tasks
• Maintain project schedules, logistics, and deliverables within budget
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or preferably Master’s degree in Biology or a related ecological field
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in restoration ecology
• Fieldwork experience and capability to operate equipment in various terrains
• Demonstrated ability to prepare clear and concise documentation
• Experience developing and tracking scopes of work, schedules, and budgets
Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related ecological field
• Master’s degree preferred but not required
