Gewalt Hamilton Associates Inc is seeking an Environmental Resources Service Lead for their Water Resources team in Schaumburg, IL. The role involves managing projects, mentoring staff, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. An exciting opportunity is available to join Gewalt Hamilton Associates (GHA), an employee-owned, multi-faceted civil engineering and land surveying company that has built a reputation of civil engineering with a personal approach. We are seeking a Environmental Resources Service Lead to join our growing Water Resources team in Vernon Hills or Schaumburg, Illinois

How you will make an impact:

The Environmental Resources Service Lead will report to the Division Director and take on a leadership role to manage all responsibilities of assigned projects with our clients. They will coordinate and assist other company divisions, and mentor and manage staff assigned to projects. This role is an exempt, salary, position. We offer a hybrid work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The additional knowledge, skills, and abilities that are required for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations and the latest developments affecting the environmental field.
• Experience in using ArcGIS Pro.
• Proficient in using GPS surveying equipment such as Trimble receivers for field data collection.
• Proven track record of managing complex environmental projects from initial planning through final deliverables.
• Perform at a high level in staff management, client management or a combination of both as summarized below.
• Generate between $100,000 to $1,000,000 in revenue as a client manager.
• Manage a staff of two (2) to six (6) direct reports with responsibilities that include:
• Completing yearly goals development and achievement
• Conducting yearly performance reviews and providing input on compensation adjustments
• Planning staff career development and facilitating training to align with team needs across multiple project teams
• Prioritizing non-billable team assignments

EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Formal training in project management preferred.

EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE:
• Fifteen (15) years of experience in environmental consulting or related field, with a focus on civil engineering projects including eight (8) years as a project manager.
• Certified Wetland Specialist (CWS) certification is required or the qualifications to obtain that certification upon application; additional professional certifications preferred.
• Experience participating in industry professional societies preferred.
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License and registered insured personal vehicle.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to independently identify, evaluate, select, and apply environmental criteria and standards to manage the delivery of project scope including the development of technical documents across several engineering disciplines.
• Possess a thorough understanding of the requirements and processes of high complexity
projects sufficient for reviewing work products.
• Use project management tools to monitor project schedule, budget and manpower
requirements across multiple project teams and communicate those expectations accordingly. This includes reviewing draft invoices from Project Managers and discussing project performance.
• Ability to shift team priorities when needed during project development.
• Perform site visits to observe and/or troubleshoot complex issues when required.
• Lead project-related communication and meetings with clients and other stakeholders or
monitors the communication from support teams.
• Manage overall client relationship with GHA.
• Ability to lead the development of project proposals or lead specific elements of the proposal,
as well as seek new opportunities to submit proposals.
• Proficiency with software products:
• Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• PDF editing software (Adobe, Bluebeam, etc.)
