Job Description

The State of New Mexico is seeking an Environmental Public Health Tracking Data Scientist to lead data strategies for the Environmental Public Health Tracking Program. Responsibilities include managing datasets, coordinating analyses, documenting workflows, and overseeing the IBIS-PH platform. A Master's degree in a related field is required, along with a valid driver's license. This is a full-time position based in Albuquerque, NM.
About the position

The Environmental Public Health Tracking Data Scientist will serve as the lead data strategist for the New Mexico Environmental Public Health Tracking Program and the Community Health Systems Epidemiology Bureau. This role involves liaising with data stewards, managing datasets, coordinating data analyses, and developing documentation for data science workflows. The incumbent will also manage the IBIS-PH platform and support emergency preparedness for environmental exposures.

Responsibilities
• Serve as the liaison with data stewards to access data, manage datasets, and coordinate data analyses.

• Document data science workflow of programming, data sources, database relations, and data dictionaries.
,
• Manage the current IBIS-PH platform and contribute to the IBIS project for NM-IBIS and NMTracking portals.

• Provide on-call services one or two days a month to support emergency preparedness for environmental exposures.

Requirements
• Master's degree in Epidemiology, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Health Informatics, or a related field.

• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

• Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or obtain certification within six months of hire.
