Job Description
Kingdom Services Group Ltd is seeking an Environmental Protection Enforcement Officer in Morden, UK. The role involves monitoring and enforcing environmental regulations, issuing fines, investigating offenses, and supporting legal actions. Location: Merton, SM4 5DX area.
Job Role: Environmental Protection Enforcement Officer
Hours: On average 40 hours per week, shifts as per site rota (generally 5 on/2 off). Monday to Sunday shifts between 09:00am - 19:00pm (Some weekends may be included within your rota).
Pay Rate: £13.50 - £17.00 per hour.
What The Role Is
To assist in the day-to-day monitoring and enforcement of environmental issues, anti-social behaviour and contraventions of relevant legislation working alongside the Local Authority and Kingdom.
Environmental Law Enforcement
• Enforce environmental regulations and local by-laws relating to littering, fly-tipping, graffiti, waste management, noise pollution, and other environmental concerns.
• Patrol assigned areas to detect violations and ensure compliance with environmental laws.
• Investigate reports of environmental offenses from the public and respond promptly to complaints.
Issuing Fines And Notices
• Issue fixed penalty notices (FPNs) and citations to individuals or businesses for non-compliance with environmental laws.
• Prepare and serve legal documents, including warning notices and fines, in accordance with local laws.
• Conduct follow-up visits to ensure compliance with issued notices and take further action if necessary.
Investigation And Reporting
• Investigate environmental offenses such as illegal dumping, abandoned vehicles, and unlawful waste disposal by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing case files.
• Use surveillance equipment, including cameras, to monitor and collect evidence of environmental crimes.
• Report findings to senior management and collaborate with legal teams to pursue prosecutions when necessary.
Court Proceedings And Legal Support
• Prepare case files for prosecution, including collecting evidence, photographs, and witness statements.
• Attend court proceedings and present evidence as required to support legal action against environmental offenders.
Communication: Express information clearly and concisely to ensure understanding.
Flexibility: Adapt to change and work effectively in various situations and weather conditions.
Learning and Development: Participate in our training course to gain insight into daily duties, current legislation, communication, and interaction aspects of the role, earning a recognized qualification in environmental awareness.
