at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. in Naperville, Illinois, United States Job Description Environmental - Project Manager Job Locations US-IL-Naperville Category Environmental Type Full-Time Overview As an Project Manager (PM) with Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Environmental Practice, you will be directly involved with site assessments and investigations, and remedial action assessments and implementation. Your primary responsibility will be managing and conducting all aspects of various environmental investigation and remediation projects. The PM role also includes performing field activities as needed, such as the following: sample collection of various environmental media (i.e., groundwater, surface water, soil, sediment, and indoor air/vapor), soil classification and logging activities, and oversight of various subcontractor activities, including soil boring advancement and groundwater monitoring well installation, underground storage tank removals, and implementation of remediation technologies. The PM also assists with conducting ASTM-compliant Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and Phase II ESAs, report preparation, and developing a variety of report figures utilizing GIS and CAD software, including aerial and topographic site maps, potentiometric surface maps, iso-concentration maps, and geologic cross sections. The individual's degree of involvement will be based upon his/her exposure and experience with respect to the assigned work. Role and responsibilities: Manage and perform Phase I and Phase II ESAs for real estate transactions and commercial developments; Collect, analyze, and prepare raw data into workable forms for engineering/scientific project reports, plans, specifications, permits, cost estimates, and other project documents. Perform field work as necessary/required to accomplish tasks assigned by project team leadership. Coordinate assigned tasks with other staff and/or subcontractors to successfully complete the assignment. Maintain and utilize working knowledge of accepted scientific principles, various regulatory programs, and field standards and practices in the execution of assigned work. Provide input and assistance in investigating new techniques and methods that may increase the Company's efficiency and incorporate cutting-edge applications to arrive at the desired result on projects. Prepare technical reports, work plans, and regulatory correspondence for environmental projects, including those under Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST), State Remediation Program (SRP), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and other related state/federal programs. Qualifications The qualified candidate ideally will have approximately 7+ years of experience in the environmental consulting industry and with site investigation/remediation including technical writing; B.A. or B.S. Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering or related field; Knowledge of the Leaking Underground Storage Tank and Site Remediation Programs; Experience with regulatory compliance and permitting for EPCRA, RCRA, NPDES, and SPCC regulations. Experience preparing and implementing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans. Competency with using CAD and GIS, Aqtesolv, Surfer software is desired; Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle; Basic technical competency, and demonstrated skills in engineering/scientific judgment, mathematical-applications, verbal/written communications; Excellent organizational skills; Ability to work effectively with team members as well as independently; Ability to travel over-night and work extended hours if needed to complete a task; Self-motivated with excellent organizational and communication skills; Strong quantitative/math and analytical skills; Detail oriented with strong communication skills, both written and verbal; The ability to coordinate and perform field work and basic competency with hand tools and power equipment such as generators, pumps, air compressors, and field chemistry meters; Core competency in Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; As required by discipline, take training courses/secure certifications in various specialized areas such as health and safety, hazardous materials inspection, sample collection techniques, environmental site assessments, etc.; and, Current 40-hour HAZWOPER training (not required, but preferred).
