Job Description & Requirements
Carlson Environmental, a Nova Group GBC Company (Carlson) is seeking candidates with at least five years of environmental due diligence experience in the environmental consulting field. Candidates must have previous experience conducting and writing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, and experience with scoping, conducting and writing Phase II Subsurface Investigations, and experience obtaining No Further Remediation (NFR) letters through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s (IEPA’s) voluntary Site Remediation Program (SRP), and the Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) program. Candidates should be local to the Chicago area, and should be self-motivated, well organized, collaborative, and able to work on multiple projects at the same time. This is a hybrid position encompassing a combination of working remotely, working in our office, and working in the field.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Successful candidates will be required to have:
• Experience performing and writing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
• Extensive experience performing and writing Phase II Subsurface Investigations
• Thorough knowledge / experience obtaining NFRs through the IEPA’s SRP and LUST program
• Experience providing remedial / subcontractor oversight
• The ability to multi-task on various projects simultaneously
• Good attention to detail
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Valid driver’s license
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
• Conduct site visits for and write Phase I Environmental Site Assessments as-needed
• Scope, conduct fieldwork, and write reports for Phase II Subsurface Investigations
• Prepare the required reports for the IEPA SRP and LUST programs to obtain NFR letters
• Conduct field oversight for site demolition, remediation, and construction projects
• Various other duties as-needed
