About the position

The Department of Environmental Quality is seeking an Environmental Program Coordinator to join the Division of Drinking Water. This position involves a variety of responsibilities centered around data management and administrative support for the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Program. The coordinator will be tasked with reviewing, analyzing, validating, and summarizing data, as well as entering this data into a database. The role requires querying data to review and interpret results, which will inform recommendations for the program. In addition to data management, the coordinator will provide essential administrative support, which includes scheduling meetings, preparing documents and reports, and managing the mailing or emailing of these documents. The position also entails in-office administrative tasks such as mailing checks, scanning and archiving documents, and performing related duties. The ideal candidate will be someone who can handle these tasks efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism. The role allows for remote work from anywhere in Utah after an initial training period in the office. This flexibility is contingent upon agency management's discretion and is subject to change. The position is also part of the Return Utah program, which aims to assist experienced adults in re-entering the workforce after a career break, providing a structured transitional period with training and mentoring.

Responsibilities
• Review, analyze, validate and summarize data and enter data into a database.

• Query data to review and interpret results to make recommendations.

• Provide administrative support to the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Program, including data entry, scheduling meetings, and preparing documents and reports.

• Mail or email documents and reports as needed.

• Perform in-office administrative support tasks such as mailing checks, scanning, and archiving documents.

Requirements
• At least 1 year of experience working in a drinking water or other environmental quality-related field.
,
• Demonstrated experience involving task coordination, communication, or customer service.
,
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
,
• Ability to deal with people in a sensitive, tactful, and professional manner.
,
• Demonstrated ability to manage time and set priorities effectively.
,
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
,
• Ability to work well in a remote environment.
,
• Adaptability to changing priorities and the ability to produce quality work under deadlines.
,
• Familiarity with MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, Adobe Pro, and cloud-based data management software.
,
• Experience in document management tasks for both hard-copy and electronic formats, including writing, editing, and formatting.
,
• Working knowledge of municipal bonds and other financial instruments.
,
• Understanding of government program requirements and their application to internal policies and procedures.
,
• Working knowledge of coordinating and troubleshooting virtual meeting platforms.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in technical writing or document quality assurance/quality control.
,
• Experience with drinking water and/or environmental regulations such as the Safe Drinking Water Act and the National Environmental Policy Act.

• Experience applying basic engineering, scientific, and/or financial understanding.
