Job Description
The Public Interest Network is seeking an Environmental Policy Strategist in Albuquerque, NM. The role involves leading campaigns to protect New Mexico's environment, requiring at least 2 years of advocacy experience. Key responsibilities include developing campaign strategies, direct advocacy, coalition building, research, communications, fundraising, and training volunteers. At Environment New Mexico, we are dedicated to tackling the most pressing environmental issues of our time. As a Conservation Advocate, you will play a crucial role in leading our campaigns to protect and preserve New Mexico's natural wonders.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in advocacy or organizing, with a proven track record of developing and implementing effective campaign strategies. You will be responsible for building relationships with key stakeholders, including decision-makers, community leaders, and grassroots supporters.
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Campaign Strategy: Develop and implement plans to win on our campaigns, assessing opportunities for building political support through coalition-building, grassroots organizing, media coverage, and message development.
• DIRECT ADVOCACY: Bring environmental problems and solutions to the attention of decision-makers, developing appropriate messages and materials for making the case for our policy solutions.
• Coalition Building: Build relationships with key players in the state, region, and federal level, identifying and working with partners who can help us win our campaigns.
• Research and Advocacy Writing: Catalog and analyze data relevant to the issue and our policy proposals to influence public debate and earn media attention for our cause.
• Communications: Serve as the public spokesperson for our campaigns through media events, press releases, editorial board meetings, online articles, and other outreach.
• Fundraising and Grassroots Support: Write grant proposals, meet with foundation staff, and build relationships with donors to bring more resources to our campaigns.
• Recruitment and Training: Recruit and train new interns and volunteers to increase our impact and build more power.
