Wood Plc is hiring an Environmental Planner (NEPA) in Ballwin, MO, to support NEPA project work. The role involves producing environmental documents and working collaboratively within a team. Ideal candidates will have a BS degree and 3-5 years of NEPA experience. The position is primarily remote but requires occasional in-office meetings. Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is looking for an Environmental Scientist to join our interdisciplinary team of professionals to support National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) project work. This dynamic team of over 50 individuals is focused on natural and cultural resources and NEPA compliance and works collaboratively within the region and with other planners, scientists, and engineers within Wood to successfully meet our clients' needs for impact analysis, permitting, and mitigation/restoration. This position will appeal to individuals with an understanding of the NEPA process, technical writing, good work ethic, and genuine interest in career growth and working with a diverse team of professionals including planners, biologists, NEPA specialists, environmental permitting specialists and other consulting/engineering disciplines. The ideal candidate will have recently graduated from an accredited college/university or with up to 5 years of consulting experience emphasizing development of NEPA documents. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on NEPA environmental assessments, environmental impact statements and related technical studies, and similar impact assessment documentation for a variety of clients. Opportunities for growth include becoming a Subject Matter Expert, development of client relationships, and manging tasks/projects.
This team is based in the Mississippi Valley Region with staff currently located in our St. Louis, Jefferson City, Louisville, Lexington, Dayton and Nashville offices and is primarily working remotely at this time. We envision a mix of remote, hybrid, and in-office working opportunities moving forward. Remote workers must be willing to come into offices, potentially with travel, for occasional in-person meetings.
Wood invites qualified applicants with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or higher in the field of environmental science, planning, or an equivalent discipline with 3-5 years direct work experience to apply for the position.
Key Responsibilities
This role will serve a critical function for the delivery of environmental documents. This position will support on-going environmental assessment projects with the following key responsibilities.
• Work with the NEPA group to produce high quality, defensible documents
• Ability to successfully complete multiple projects on schedule and within budget under limited supervision
• Understanding of impact assessment methodologies and technical writing
• Ability to work independently and with a team
• Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others as part of an interdisciplinary team
Skills / Qualifications
• The successful candidate will have a BS degree in in the field of environmental science, planning, geography, natural science, environmental engineering, or an equivalent discipline
• 3-5 years of applicable experience with NEPA documentation including research and writing of EISs, Environmental Assessments, and CEs, project descriptions, project alternatives, or supporting technical studies/analyses of aesthetics/visual, natural resources, air quality, greenhouse gas, geology and soils, hydrology and water quality, land use and planning, socioeconomics, or cumulative impacts
• Applicant will have excellent writing and oral communication skills
• Ability to produce concise documents that meets required standards
• Valid driver's license and good driving record for travel within the central US
• Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
