About the position

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking an experienced Environmental Planner to join their team in Raleigh or Charlotte, NC. The role focuses on environmental permitting and transportation planning, requiring knowledge of regulatory processes and project management experience. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team supporting infrastructure projects across the Southeast and nationwide.

Responsibilities
• Utilize knowledge of NEPA/SEPA processes and environmental legislation to evaluate project-related impacts.

• Assist with the coordination of project permitting with entities such as the Department of Transportation and the Environmental Protection Agency.

• Conduct environmental studies and technical analyses for Department of Transportation projects.
,
• Conduct data collection, impact analyses, alternative selection, and support permitting efforts.

• Assist with proposal efforts, including the development of fee and cost estimates.
,
• Conduct QA/QC reviews for environmental tasks and project documents.

Requirements
• Bachelor of Science in Planning, Environmental Science/Studies or related required; Master's degree desired.

• 5 to 7 years of related planning experience.
,
• Minimum 3 years of task management experience.
,
• US Department of Transportation project experience required.

• Basic GIS experience, particularly in applications relevant to planning.

Nice-to-haves
• Preferred experience in NCDOT Project Delivery Network and knowledge of Integrated Project Delivery.

• Professional certifications such as AICP, LEED, CEP, ENV SP desired.
