The role involves assisting in energy infrastructure siting, preparing environmental documents, and engaging with clients and stakeholders. Environmental Planner
POWER Engineers, a Member of WSP, Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services to clients worldwide. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specialize in the areas of air, water, waste, ecological and cultural resources across the country and internationally.
We are seeking a highly motivated experienced Environmental Planner for full-time employment in our growing Columbus, Ohio office in support of our Environmental Project Management and Planning Department. This position would assist with siting and routing of electrical infrastructure and renewable energy projects, mainly in the Midwest.
Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
•Assist senior staff in energy infrastructure siting and routing studies
•Assist in preparation and technical writing of environmental planning and analysis documents
•Assist with local zoning or permit applications
•Research local, state, and federal permitting requirements
•Assist senior staff in field reviews and investigations to determine suitable project site locations
•Attend and participate in open house and public meeting environments
•Interface with internal Project Managers, staff, clients, and sub-contractors
•Assist with client coordination including project scope, budget, schedule, and forecasting
•Performs other duties as assigned
Required Education/Experience
•This position requires a BS degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related degree
•Three-five (3-5) years of experience
•Knowledge and interest in federal, state, and local environmental policy and regulation
•Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team and collaborative environment
•Ability to travel, up to 30% of the time
•Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
•Self-starter willing to tackle a variety of tasks simultaneously
•Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills
Desired Education/Experience
•Knowledge and experience with Arc GIS are a plus
