About the position

The Environmental Planner 2 position at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania involves supporting the District Environmental Supervisor and District Environmental Manager in securing environmental approvals for transportation initiatives. The role requires drafting environmental documentation and ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations. The planner will assess the impacts of transportation projects on various environmental factors and maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant policies and guidelines.

Responsibilities
• Support the District Environmental Supervisor and District Environmental Manager in securing environmental approvals for transportation initiatives.

• Draft necessary environmental documentation for compliance with NEPA and other regulations.
,
• Coordinate the creation and assessment of environmental documents, including categorical exclusions, technical reports, and mitigation plans.

• Assess potential impacts of transportation projects on landforms, air quality, noise levels, water quality, and other environmental factors.
,
• Maintain a thorough understanding of environmental policies, procedures, and guidelines relevant to the field.

Requirements
• Two years of experience as an Environmental Planner 1; or
,
• Five years of progressive professional experience in local, regional, or state environmental planning; or
,
• A Master's degree in planning or one of the environmental sciences and two years of progressive professional environmental planning experience; or
,
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
