Description
GAI Consultants is seeking an Assistant Environmental Manager (Environmental Permitting Specialist) t to provide experience and team leadership in environmental studies and permitting. The successful candidate's primary work responsibility will be to provide task leadership and technical execution for environmental permitting efforts relating to electric transmission projects. The Environmental Permitting Specialist will also assist with project budget and schedule management, coordination with clients and regulatory agencies, proposal preparation and cost estimating, and quality control reviews.
This position will be performed on a hybrid schedule. Other office locations and/or remote locations may also be considered.
As Environmental Permitting Specialist, you will:
Lead environmental resource investigation tasks and prepare permit applications and associated environmental reports. Participate in public outreach efforts including attending workshops and information events. Serve as a Task Manager to prepare and maintain control of budgets, scopes, schedules, and quality of deliverables for specific tasks. Prepare proposals and cost estimates. Lead coordination with clients and regulatory agencies. Travel occasionally to project field views, agency meetings, and client meetings.
As Environmental Permitting Specialist, you are:
Experienced in preparing environmental permit applications including Section 404/401/10, state wetland and waterbody, NPDES, floodplain, and special use permits. Permitting experience in PA, WV, OH, MD, NJ and/or VA is required. Experienced in coordinating environmental resource investigations to support permitting tasks, including wetland and stream, endangered species, and cultural resources studies. A trusted team leader, skilled in directing both the technical and logistical elements of project execution. A people person, comfortable with coordinating the work of a team and interacting with clients, agencies, and the public. Detail oriented and able to react to changing priorities while managing budgets and schedules on multiple projects concurrently.
As Environmental Permitting Specialist, you have:
Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Planning, Natural Resources, or related field. Proven experience in preparing permit applications and supporting documentation. Relevant experience working in the environmental consulting, utility, or regulatory fields. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Planning, Natural Resources, or related field.
Technical Responsibilities
Leads permitting efforts and environmental resource investigations to support permitting tasks. Generates well written, technically sound documents with little assistance from senior staff; public and agency interface; Data analysis and interpretation Ability to research applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and guidance and applies them to project specifics. Receives technical training for career enhancement.
Project and Task Management
Works as a part of a team and coordinates work with others. Assists in determining schedule and budget requirements.
Management Responsibility
Assigning and overseeing tasks under the direct supervision ofthe project manager and maintaining budgets and schedules; assisting Project Managers withproposal preparation; scopes of work and project component cost estimates. Guidance and oversight from Project Managers.
Communication Skills
Possess effective oral and written communication skills; interacts well with other staff Interact with clients and regulatory agencies Interacts closely with Project Managers and various Department Managerial Staff, performs well with client communications.

Education Bachelors of Environmental and Earth Science (required)
